Economic Recession

Economic Recession; Dear Brethren in our New Year letter we mentioned that this year would be a year of breakthrough. This would be the year in which the dawning glory that is now already being manifest in a company of people would begin to be manifest in a clearer way and would be established. And then came the corona virus. Yet it is not the virus itself that has become the predominant problem, but rather the ripple effects of global reach and impact. Suddenly the very robust worldwide economy seems headed for a recession. The US Stock Market lost more than 30% of its value in just in just over a week and the prognosticators are declaring that the market has more to give. Obviously we are dealing not simply with a virus, but with a principality that has a specific agenda which is the destabilizing of the world’s economy and filling the people everywhere with fear.

Fear is a major principality and a door opener, which allows the enemy freedom to fulfill his purposes. Therefore, we the people of God cannot permit the enemy to cripple us in soul or in spirit because then we would be unable to respond to the crisis with the wisdom of God. A notable politician said some years ago; “We should never let a crisis go to waste”. Whatever his intent was with this statement, this may very well be a kingdom principle. God has never had a crisis, but permits all of these things with a purpose. Everything serves the plans and purposes of God. For those of us who are called according to the purposes of God, everything works together for good.

The earth was about to enter into a new season after the flood in the days of Noah, and God initiated this season by calling a man named Abram to leave his people and his country and join with God on his journey through time, so that he might become the primary instrument of the purposes of God in that season. But there was a famine in the land, maybe in much of the earth at that time. Abraham journeyed and went down into Egypt by the sovereign designs of God and there was involved in a series of circumstances which had been designed by the Lord to transition him. Even though he may have left his place of origin with little, yet during the crisis God created circumstances to bless him abundantly and to establish him as a man of extraordinary wealth. Such was the wealth of Abraham and those with him that the land could not sustain them together and they had to put some space between them (Gen.11:31-13:9).

The steps in this process are clear. (1) God calls a man without much known pedigree to journey with him from the known to the unknown; (2) A crisis erupts in the geography; (3) God puts that man into circumstances through which he blesses that man and those with him in an extraordinary manner, establishing him and his people in a new level.

A similar process occurs in the life of David, the young man anointed of God to replace the presumptuous kingdom of Saul. Saul whose enabling was not always from the spirit of God, would consider David his archrival and often sought to destroy him. The young David was surrounded by a company of “all those who were in distress or in debt or discontented, and he became their leader” (1 Sam.22:2). The dissembling of Saul’s kingdom was the establishing of David’s. By the time of the establishing of the temple, these same miscreants were of such stature that they willingly offered billions of dollars towards the building of the kingdom of God (1Chron. 29:6-9).

Ultimately this season will be known as the SEASON OF ABUNDANCE for the people of God who in faith follow the Lord and his purposes. The events that the enemy has planned to seek to forestall the work of the SOVEREIGN LORD in the earth will fail, as the Lord superintends all of the events with the goal of establishing a people in the earth as the instruments of his purpose. The prophet Haggai declared the word of the Lord, “I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, and the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord Almighty. The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the Lord Almighty. And in this place I will grant peace, declares the Lord Almighty” (Haggai 2:6-9 NIV).
I believe the nations of the earth and the kingdoms of the world are being shaken by the Lord so that the silver and the gold that is needed for the establishing of the kingdom of God will now be redeemed by the Lord and his Christ. This is the purpose of God for this season. For us it is not about the Corona Virus but about this purpose of God.

In each region we must now seek the Lord about the specifics of our response to the door of opportunity that is now opened. In a recession the money does not leave the market, it simply changes hands. This is the time of economic establishing for many of the people of the kingdom of God.

The prophet Micah speaks to us is this manner: “ Be in pain and labor to bring forth, o daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail, for now you will go forth out of the city and you will dwell in the field, and you will go even to Babylon: there you will be delivered; there Jehovah will redeem you from the hand of your enemies. Now many nations are gathered together against you. They say, Let her be defiled, let our eyes gloat over Zion. But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord; they do not understand his plan, that he has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor. Arise and thresh, daughter Zion, for I will give you horns of iron; I will give you hooves of bronze, and you will break to pieces many nations. You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the Lord, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth” (Micah 4:10-13).

This is the time to invade the kingdoms of business and economics. Many of us in response to the spirit of the Sovereign Lord will invade kingdoms of business and economics on several levels. Many of us who had fished in the past and had not caught anything, will now in response to the word of the Lord return to fish in the same waters but now on the right side of the ship. Maybe many of us had fished in the wrong places. Yet now there is a super abundant catch waiting for us. We can’t let this opportunity go to waste nor react in fear, but we must rather be bold and strong in the Lord, because we have never walked this way before (Josh.3:4).

SHALOM!
For the sake of the kingdom of God
